Certifications
We’re proud to build the next generation of leaders through our comprehensive Red Cross certification programs. From lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor training to CPR/AED, First Aid and Babysitter Training, our courses equip participants with the skills, confidence, and leadership needed to keep our community safe.
Program Policies
Communication
All communication will be emailed. It is extremely important to register with the email you would like your certification sent to, if successful. If there is an online component, modules will be sent 7 days prior to the start of the course.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Standard Cancellations
- Cancellations made 4 days or more prior to the class start date are eligible for a full refund.
Pre-Test Requirements
- If a participant does not pass the pre-test, no refund will be issued.
- Participants who do not pass must arrange their own transportation home.
Preparation Requirements
- Participants must arrive with all course modules/simulations completed and proof submitted beforehand.
- If a participant arrives unprepared (meaning, without proof of module/simulation completions), they must arrange a ride home. No refund will be issued.
Exams and Skill Assessments
- All final written exams and skill assessments must be successful to pass the class.
- If any of these assessments are unsuccessful, no partial or full refund can be provided.
Course Ratio Requirements
- If unsuccessful pre-tests cause the class to fall below the required course ratio, all parents will be notified, and the course may be canceled with refunds issued.
Agreement
By registering, you acknowledge and accept this policy and all Naugatuck YMCA policies.
Attendance
Attendance is required on all days. Failure to attend all days will be considered unsuccessful and a refund will not be given.
Additional Considerations
Please be aware that the skill practice sessions in these courses may involve strenuous physical activity. If you have any concerns about your ability to participate fully in class (for example, because of a medical condition or disability), please contact Justin Merkovsky (information below) before the first in-person session to discuss possible accommodations. You may also wish to speak with a healthcare professional before the first in-person session.
